This manga has spunky personality and it's wild fun! I really enjoyed this book and I was hooked and addicted almost instantly. Nothing's easy at this academy, let me tell ya! Along the way they meet a succubus who also has eyes for Tsunami, some crafty mermaids and a riveting werewolf. Suddenly, the two are the best of friends (or more?). Moka, a pretty vampire girl, takes a liking to him instantly and sucks his blood. He didn't realize this, especially since he wasn't the best student and this was the only school that accepted him.

Rosario+Vampire Volume 1 is an absolute delight and I am so pumped to work my way through this series! This VIZ manga follows human Tsunami as he gets sent to a school full of monsters. Plus, I mean really, I read smut, who am I to judge?. Anyway, so the actual "plots" (if you can call them that) are extremely shallow and there is a lot of goofiness that goes on.Īll that said, though, I did order the next two volumes because I have some minuscule hope that this could turn out better in future volumes. Vaguely, it may be because he "smells good" because he's actually a human, yet none of them seem to realize that he is, in fact, a human? I don't know. Most of the first chapters are every female monster in the school falling for the main character for no apparent reason whatsoever. What the author does with it is not so great though. The story has potential, it's an interesting concept.

This series makes me a little sad because the art is beautiful, really, absolutely gorgeous. However! My smut-reading side said to me, Emma, you read smut, how different is this really? So I trudged through. I thought no way am I making it through this whole volume. I forgot, though, and I was too tempted by seeing a volume one sitting on my library's shelves all lonely and calling to me, "Emma, Emma, read me."Īt first I was appalled at the fan service. This series makes me a little sad because the art is beautiful, really, absolu Haha, okay. I forgot, though, and I was too tempted by seeing a volume one sitting on my library's shelves all lonely and calling to me, "Emma, Emma, read me." At first I was appalled at the fan service. In the end, I’m still going to read into the “second season” to see if it will get any better. That, along with the arc of the Rosario and the tensions and connections it creates between Moka and Tsukune.
I think what keeps me reading these books (despite having bought them all for really cheap and used) is the incorporation of different monsters and what possible ridiculous motives they might have. The love is just thrown in there to make him look like a big shot, a young boy acting as a damsel in distress, needing savior from the girls around him. Tsukune has his modesty, his kindness and his loyalty going for him, but the ladies don’t recognize those attributes and use them as a basis for their undying love for him. It’s stupid, unrealistic and makes the volumes hard to get through. One of the biggest things that turns me off when reading is how unfoundedly every female creature flocks at the main character. The plots of each volume…pretty laughable to even try to identify them with the idea of ‘plot.’ The situations are so see through you know well before anything goes down just how it all will end.įan service is always appalling when it happens upon a page, though expected, but some of the scenes are too ridiculous and insulting to bear. The art is beautiful and I think the art itself is where the author’s talent lies most heavily, not plotting. This manga is not terrible, let’s just say that.
